The four weeks of Advent remind us to set aside some of the hectic business of the holiday season, and to quietly reflect on the promise of the baby born in Bethlehem 2000 years ago. As members of St Paul’s parish community, we let the Advent themes of waiting, preparation, light in the darkness, and the coming of the promised Messiah speak to our hearts and prayers at this special time.

Advent Pilgrimage to Bethlehem: A ZOOM event in St. Alban’s Church
Macclesfield Saturday 12th December 2020, 09:15- 10:15 / via Zoom.

In 2020 many things are different and not what we are used to. We have been unable to visit friends and family or travel. Pilgrimages to the Holy Land have all been stopped and the Old City of Jerusalem is empty. Just the very people that live within the walls can be seen occasionally. We start our advent journey with the Old Testament, meet some locals and get a sense of what Bethlehem is like today. Children from the Franciscan Music School in Jerusalem will share a video of Christmas Carols.

Are you free on Saturday the 12th of December in the morning between 9:15am-10:15am?
Come and join us for a virtual pilgrimage to Bethlehem followed by livestreamed Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Midday Mass

Please send an e-mail to eventstalban@gmail.com to register for this event. All details to access the online meeting will be provided after registration.

This journey to Bethlehem is made possible thanks to the help of Pro Terra Sancta (UK) a charity that supports the work of the Franciscans in the Holy Land. Pro Terra Sancta is an important partner for the work and projects for the people of Bethlehem.

2017

In our Forgiveness Service in 2017 we came together to think about, “Who are we?”
Jesus, the Light of the World, lived on earth, fully human as we are, to guide us on our journey of life, showing us how to live. As Baptised members of God’s family how do we live out our faith following in the footsteps of Jesus? As we journey together how do we light up the way for others? Join us in our examination on conscience, prepared by Jacqui Feely. Click here ->
