11th November 2018: commemorating 100 years since the signing of the Armistice

Posted on Oct 16 , 2018 in News

This year, November 11th is the 100th commemoration of the First World War Armistice when we will remember again all those who gave their lives in is this war and the conflicts since then.

We have updated the St Paul’s web site to allow us to share and remember those parishioners of St Paul’s parish involved in these wars and conflicts. If you would like to add a name to the list on the web site please give the details to the parish office at stpaulspoynton@gmail.com or email peter.milham44@gmail.com. Or you may complete our contact form.

We are happy to include on the St Paul’s war memorial web page any photographs, information or messages you would like to add.

A history of the parish, including the formative events during the Second World War is at History of St Paul’s parish.

You can keep up to date with the commemorations being held in Poynton at Events on Poynton Web. Poynton’s Remembrance Parade is on Sunday 11th, assemble at 9:25am at the Civic Centre car park, then the parade begins at 9:35am down Park Lane to St George’s Church. The service and Act of Remembrance is at St George’s Church, starting at 10am until approximately 11.30am.  As is customary, wreaths and poppies will placed on and around the war memorial after the service.

Exposition at St Paul’s Church

Reflecting on the conference, St Paul’s will have an Exposition on 30th September at 4.00pm for one hour, led by Deacon Gerald Turnbull.

Eucharistic adoration is when the Blessed Sacrament is adored by the faithful. This practice may occur when the Eucharist is normally in the church tabernacle. Adoration is a sign of devotion to and worship of Jesus Christ, who is present Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, under the appearance of the consecrated host.
